The party’s National Youth Leader, Balarabe Rufai, made this known in a post on X on Monday, where he also shared flyers for the Lagos and Ogun protests, both branded as “Operation Occupy INEC.”
He stated that the Lagos protest is expected to begin by 8am at Yaba College of Technology, while the Ogun gathering is set for 11am at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) office in Abeokuta.
“Today we will be #OccupyingINEC Offices at Jigawa, Ogun and Lagos! #AmupitanMostGo” he wrote.
At the time of filing this report, it is still uncertain whether the demonstration had started at the INEC office in Lagos.
The planned protests are coming in response to a decision by INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, who on April 1 announced the de-recognition of certain ADC factions.
He based the move on a March 12 Court of Appeal ruling that directed all parties involved in the leadership dispute to maintain the existing structure until the matter is resolved.
KanyiDaily recalls that Joash Amupitan recently dismissed reports claiming he owns or uses an X account, calling the allegations false and intentionally misleading.
