Two Schoolmates Arrested Over Abduction And Murder Of 17-Year-Old UTME Candidate In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two schoolmates over the abduction and killing of a 17-year-old candidateof the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Thompson Adams, in the Ikorodu area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, confirmed the arrests while speaking to journalists at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Wednesday, April 29.

He identified the suspects as Elijah Emmanuel, 23, and Tony Ogenata, 21, noting that they were apprehended on Monday evening around 8 pm following actionable intelligence.

According to Tijani, investigations revealed that Adams was on his way back from writing his UTME exam on April 22 when the incident occurred.

He explained that the suspects, who were once his schoolmates, allegedly deceived him into visiting their residence, where he was killed.

“On April 27, 2026, at about 20.00 hours, operatives of the command, acting on credible intelligence, traced and arrested suspected kidnappers at Lucky Fibre, Ikorodu, Lagos,” he said.

“The suspects are Elijah Emmanuel, 23, and Tony Ekwen Ogenata, 21. Criminal investigation revealed that the suspects are linked to the kidnapping and gruesome m8rder of one Thompson Adams, aged 17, which occurred on April 22, 2026.

‘The two boys went out with their friend, Adams, who was their secondary schoolmate. Along the line, they m8rdered him.”

The police boss added that after committing the crime, they reportedly placed the victim’s body in a bag and dumped it within the community.

He said further investigation revealed that the suspects were also connected to an earlier incident involving the killing of a woman in November 2025.

“Investigation revealed that they had earlier kidnapped and m8rdered a female victim on November 30, 2025. The victim was a girlfriend of one of them. They contacted her parents and demanded ransom,” he said.

Tijani disclosed that although the family paid N300,000, the suspects still went ahead and killed her.

He assured that the suspects will be charged to court once investigations are completed.

KanyiDaily also reported how 18-year-old boy, Johnson Daniel, was arrested for allegedly killing his friend after a disagreement in Owo, Ondo State.
