EFCC Declares Ex-Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq Wanted Over Alleged Fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over allegations involving conspiracy, abuse of office and the mismanagement of public funds.

The anti-corruption agency announced the development in a notice published on its official website on Saturday.
According to the EFCC, the 52-year-old former minister is from Zamfara State, and her last known address was listed as EN 008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja.
In the statement signed by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the commission asked Nigerians with useful information about her location to report to the agency or the nearest police station.
The EFCC notice read, “The public is hereby notified that Sadiya Umar Farouq, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in an alleged case of Criminal Conspiracy, Abuse of Office, Diversion of Public Funds.”
The commission directed anyone with useful information to contact its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, or Abuja, or call 08093322644, or email [email protected], or contact the nearest police station.
Sadiya Umar Farouq served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs between 2019 and 2023 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The commission is currently investigating alleged fraud linked to the ministry during her tenure, involving about N37 billion.
KanyiDaily recalls that a FCT High Court in Apo had issued an arrest warrant against Sadiya Umar Farouq after she failed to appear in court for arraignment.
