Gunmen have attacked a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in Tenebo community, located in Kaiama LGA of Kwara State, killing three officers.

Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed the incident in a statement, saying it happened early on Saturday.

She added that several other officers were seriously injured during the attack.

According to her, security operatives have begun a search for those behind the нападение, with a promise that they will be found and prosecuted.

Ejire-Adeyemi described the incident as a cowardly act and praised the officers for their courage.

She also expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished the injured officers a quick recovery.

The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Ojo Adekimi, psc, mnips, has received with profound shock and deep sorrow the report of a deadly attack on the PMF Camp at Tenebo Village, Kaiama LGA, which occurred in the early hours of today, 2nd May, 2026,” the statement reads.

“This heinous and cowardly act, which claimed the lives of three gallant police officers and left several others critically injured, is strongly condemned in its entirety. The fallen officers paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, bravely standing to defend the safety and security of our communities. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

“The Command extends its heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased officers during this moment of immense grief. We also pray for the swift recovery of the injured personnel currently receiving treatment.

No words can fully capture the pain of this loss, but the Command stands firmly with the bereaved families and assures them of our unwavering support.

“CP Ojo Adekimi has vowed that the Command will deploy all available operational, intelligence, and tactical resources to ensure that the perpetrators of this barbaric attack are tracked down and brought to justice. There will be no hiding place for those responsible.”

This incident comes just days after three soldiers were killed during a clash with suspected terrorists who attacked a military base in Kemanji community, also in Kaiama LGA of Kwara State.
