He was charged with cyberbullying and defamation over claims he shared about their daughter, Deja Kosoko, which turned out to be untrue.
The issue began on May 14, when a misleading story spread online, alleging that a DNA test had shown Adekunle Gold was not Deja’s biological father.
The rumour wrongly referenced Arise TV and included photos of the singer, his daughter, and rapper Falz.
Swanky Concept, who had more than 17,000 followers on X, helped push the false claim further.
He then posted an image of a lit candle alongside a message that read “RIP to Deja,” which appeared to wish death on the child.
In one of his posts, he wrote, “My sincere condolences to the Adekunle family. RIP to Deja.”
According to court records, his actions were deliberate and aimed at gaining attention.
He was arrested and taken to court, where he pleaded guilty to the charges on May 14.
The following day, May 15, the court sentenced him to two years imprisonment with an option of fine.
Many users on X have since reacted, saying the punishment should serve as a clear warning to others who spread false stories or use social media to harass people.
KanyiDaily recalls that Adekunle Gold recently addressed reports that he and his wife, Simi, welcomed twins.
