In a statement shared on his Facebook page on Thursday, VeryDarkMan explained that officers from the Special Tactical Squad led by ACP Victor handled the case and successfully recovered the child.
According to him, the baby’s mother reported the matter at his office on April 25, 2026, and he immediately took her to the STS office in Guzape, Abuja, where the case was presented to the commander, ACP Victor.
He noted that ACP Victor “took personal interest” in the matter and helped secure approval for an official investigation through the Force Intelligence Department (FID).
During interrogation, VeryDarkMan said the suspect allegedly confessed that the baby had been sold to a lawyer for ₦4.5 million.
VMD said everyone involved in the case has now been taken to Abuja while authorities prepare to reunite the child with the biological mother.
He wrote, “I am happy to announce to everyone that the baby that was stolen from her mom at birth and was sold have been rescued by STS under the leadership of ACP VICTOR…..
“The mother of the baby came to my office(MVOI) on the 25th of April 2026 after she had explained everything to me I took her straight to STS POLICE STATION IN GUZZAPE where the matter was tabled to the COMMANDER OF STS(ACP VICTOR) .
“After he listened to the matter, he took personal interest in the matter and immediately a petition was drafted and taken to the DIG FID where it was approved.
“And the next day 26th April members of STS moved to imo state to make an arrest which was successful and on the 27TH the suspect was brought down to Abuja for further investigations.
“After few days she disclosed it was a lawyer that paid for the baby the sum of 4.5 million naira total after the confession the STS POLICE moved with suspect to Lagos state where they apprehended the lawyer and rescued the baby.
‘Yesterday they were all brought down and today here we are, we are waiting for the mother of the child to do a proper handover to the mother of the child.”
A few days earlier, the activist had posted a video in which the baby’s mother, identified as Chioma, narrated her experience.
Chioma explained that she struggled financially and supported herself and her eight-year-old son by selling explicit videos online, noting that her husband was unable to provide enough financial support for the family.
According to her, she travelled within Lagos to care for her sick mother before meeting a woman named Chinelo, who later invited her to Aba.
Chioma alleged that Chinelo introduced her to a supposed surrogacy arrangement involving a couple who promised to pay her ₦2 million.
However, she claimed the arrangement later changed into a sexual relationship with the man involved, which resulted in pregnancy.
She said she eventually gave birth with the assistance of a nurse identified as Agatha and was later paid ₦720,000.
After returning to Lagos, Chioma claimed she rented an apartment and told her husband the money came from a friend living abroad.
Chioma said she later became pregnant for her husband, but reportedly developed health complications.
According to her, she contacted Chinelo again for assistance and was invited back to Aba, where she was allegedly encouraged to sell her unborn child for ₦3 million.
Chioma said she gave birth at a general hospital in Owerri on April 7, and contacted Chinelo to bring baby supplies.
She claimed Chinelo visited the hospital with the baby items, but while she briefly stepped away to use the bathroom, the woman disappeared with the baby.
She said she later discovered that ₦1.5 million had been deposited into her bank account and claimed Chinelo later informed her that the baby had already been sold.
