Expecting Pastor Adeboye To Lead A Protest At 84 Makes No Sense – Mike Bamiloye
Founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Mike Bamiloye, has spoken out in support of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, following backlash over his recent comments on insecurity in Nigeria.
In a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday, Bamiloye said critics and online bloggers had twisted Adeboye’s words.
“This is what he said: many bloggers saw this, but they would misproject it. But he spoke against the evils,” Bamiloye wrote.
He maintained that the cleric was simply speaking about the growing security problems in the country and condemning the situation.
The reaction follows the resurfacing of a video recorded in November 2025, where Adeboye reportedly called on the federal government to give security agencies a 90-day deadline to tackle terrorism or step down.
The video sparked mixed reactions online, with some people accusing the pastor of encouraging government opposition and discouraging protest movements.
Responding to calls for Adeboye, who is 84 years old, to personally lead protests, Bamiloye said such expectations were unreasonable given his age and spiritual role.
“And for all those who are expecting an 84-year-old man, servant of God, to lead a protest against a government, this does not make sense by virtue of his age and by the mandate of his calling,” he stated.
Bamiloye also addressed claims that Adeboye once led a protest in 2020 during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He explained that the event was not a personal political protest but a coordinated action directed by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in response to rising insecurity at the time.
“And for all those who said he led a protest, it was the instruction of CAN and PFN for every church to stage a protest against insecurity in the nation, and he complied and led his denomination too, just as some other churches did,” he said.
He further stressed that the role of the church is to pray for peace and seek divine help for the nation rather than engage in political confrontation.
“Our major responsibility as the Church of God is to continually pray for the peace of our nation and the intervention of God in the government,” Bamiloye stated.
A statement from the RCCG Public Relations Department also clarified that a widely circulated image of Adeboye holding a placard came from a 2020 prayer walk and was not linked to any political protest or campaign.
The church reiterated that Adeboye maintains a neutral political stance and encourages civic participation without endorsing any political party.
