A group of supporters of President Bola Tinubu has staged a counter-protest in Abuja over the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.

The protest followed reports that 39 students and seven teachers were abducted from three schools located in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

In viral video, members of the pro-Tinubu group were seen chanting slogans in support of the President while accusing Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of allegedly turning the tragic incident into a political issue.

The protesters claimed that Makinde was hiding the abducted schoolchildren and teachers in order to use the kidnapping case to further his political ambitions.

During the demonstration, one of the protesters said: “We love President Tinubu. Because you want to be President, you hid our children. Allow President Tinubu to work.”

The statement sparked debate on social media, with many Nigerians criticising the protest and questioning the basis of the allegations made against Governor Makinde.

Several users argued that the focus should be on ensuring the safe return of the kidnapped students and teachers rather than engaging in political accusations.
