Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has donated cars to female leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in five states currently governed by opposition parties.

She made the announcement on Tuesday during the launch of the Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), a support group for President Bola Tinubu, at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.

The beneficiaries are APC women leaders from Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Osun and Oyo states.

In her speech, the First Lady said the vehicles will be delivered before the end of the week and will belong directly to the recipients rather than the party.

To all our women leaders in states where we do not have APC governors but have committed party members, your vehicles will be ready before the end of the week,” Oluremi said.

“The vehicles are your personal vehicles. You are not giving them to the party. Register them in your names and use them for the service of the party and your communities.”

Remi Tinubu also encouraged APC governors across the country to provide similar support to women leaders in their states, including vehicles and other resources that would help them carry out their responsibilities more effectively.

She said women remain an important part of the party’s growth and success, especially at the grassroots level where they help mobilise support and strengthen party structures.

The First Lady described the APC as a party that promotes healthy democratic participation and said political engagement should not be driven by hostility or bitterness.

I urge our governors to buy vehicles for their women leaders. We are not playing politics like before. We are politicians, and people should see the value in us,” she added.

She pointed to the party’s recent primary elections as an example of its commitment to internal democracy and peaceful conflict resolution.

Oluremi further urged members of the Tinubu Torchbearers to actively promote the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and communicate government programmes responsibly as preparations gradually begin ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the event, APC National Women Leader Mary Alile-Idele called on women nationwide to increase grassroots support for President Tinubu’s policies and programmes.

She disclosed that the Tinubu Torchbearers group has established structures in all 774 local government areas across Nigeria to help publicise government initiatives and encourage citizen involvement.

Alile-Idele also praised the government’s reforms and the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, saying the programmes have positively impacted women, young people, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable citizens through various empowerment and social support programmes.
