Police Will Decide Legality Of Fadahunsi’s ‘Kill Accord’ Comment — APC

The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, said it is the responsibility of the police to determine whether comments made by Senator Francis Fadahunsi were unlawful.

Morka made the statement during an interview on Arise News on Wednesday while discussing the controversy surrounding Fadahunsi’s remarks at an APC campaign event in Ilesa, Osun State.

Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, came under criticism after comments he made at the rally were widely seen as a call for APC supporters to attack members of the Accord Party.

Reacting to the controversy, Morka said neither the APC nor members of the public should decide whether the senator broke the law.

“I don’t think it’s for any of us, you know, yourself, myself, you know, even the party, to be second-guessing what was said or didn’t say. That is the job of the police,” he said.

According to him, Fadahunsi has already been invited by the police to explain what he meant, and the authorities should be allowed to complete their investigation.

“I understand, you know, he’s been invited to explain his comments. So I think we must, you know, wait for the police to do their job and, you know, properly, you know, put his statements in context and decide whether or not there’s anything illegal or unlawful about his comments to warrant further action by the police,” Morka said.

The APC spokesman also spoke about the rising violence in Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

He described the situation as disturbing and condemned attacks linked to political activities.

Morka said, “The events unfolding in Osun, the level of violence, is disturbing on so many levels.

“People have no business getting killed or injured just because they try to participate in an election called by the country in their state. So it’s really condemnable that anyone would perpetuate violence or encourage it.”

He urged the police and other security agencies to identify those behind the violence and ensure they face justice.

He stressed that the APC does not support political violence, adding that the party believes it can win votes through its record and achievements.

‘We at the APC, we totally condemn all of the acts of violence that we’ve witnessed in Osun in the lead-up to this election,” he said

Morka said the APC would continue to ask voters in Osun and other parts of the country to support the party based on its performance rather than through intimidation or violence.

“We, as a party, don’t participate in violence because we are confident about our case, which we are making or have made to the people in Osun, and as we make to people elsewhere when it comes to elections, to vote for us on the basis of our record and our performance,” Morka said.
