Lagos State lawmaker and actor Desmond Elliot has apologised to the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, over his conduct during the last All Progressives Congress primary election.

Elliot apologised during a meeting with Gbajabiamila and other APC leaders, where he went down on his knees and prostrated before his political mentor as he sought to mend their relationship.

A video shared on social media on Sunday showed Desmond Elliot expressing remorse over his actions.

The lawmaker said that he may have been wrongly advised or influenced during the party primary.

The lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly also promised to remain loyal to the party’s leadership.

I’m sorry. I have no excuse; I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry. I’m deeply sorry, sir. And in our culture, we prostrate. Don’t be angry, Daddy,” Elliot said.

Femi Gbajabiamila later asked the lawmaker to stand up.

In a separate message shared on Instagram, Desmond Elliot thanked Gbajabiamila for his guidance and support throughout his political career.

The lawmaker described Gbajabiamila as his political father, mentor and leader, while reaffirming his respect and loyalty to him.

Elliot said no political ambition or temporary disagreement should destroy a relationship built over years of trust and mentorship.

He also called for unity as APC members continue working for the development of Surulere, Lagos and Nigeria.

He wrote, “I, Hon. Desmond Olusola Elliott, wish to sincerely express my heartfelt appreciation to my political father, mentor, and leader, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, for his unwavering guidance, support, and investment in my political journey over the years.

“My respect and loyalty to Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila remain unwavering.

“Everything I have achieved politically is all for Surulerians .Thanks for the love and always believing in me.

“It is therefore important for me to publicly state that no political ambition or temporary disagreement is worth damaging a relationship built on years of trust, guidance, and shared commitment to the progress of our party and our people.

“I appeal for understanding and unity as we continue to work together for the growth of the All Progressives CongressAPC), the development of Surulere, and the advancement of Lagos State and Nigeria.

“I remain committed to the ideals of loyalty, service, and respect for party leadership.”

The latest apology comes amid the political disagreements that surrounded the Lagos State House of Assembly leadership crisis.

Gbajabiamila had previously revealed that he faced pressure at the Presidency over intelligence reports linking Elliot to to the dispute over the Assembly speakership.
