Nigerians Reacts As Lagos Govt Revert Bus Fares To 100% By April 1st

Nigerians on Twitter have been reacting to the news by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority that bus fares in the state would be returning to 100%.

The commission disclosed this in a statement on its official Instagram handle on Tuesday.

The commission statement reads in part, “With effect from Saturday, 1st April, bus fares on all regulated buses – BRT, standard and FLM– shall revert to 100 per cent rate.”

Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state had on 8 February 2023 announced the reduction of transportation fares in the state by 50 per cent.

Reacting to the latest development, most Nigerians expressed displeasure over the government’s planned action.

According to them, the government succeeded in deceiving the people with the earlier reduction in fare as a strategy to win their votes for the March 18th gubernatorial election in the state.
