Ashanti Announces Her Pregnancy And Engagement To Nelly

American singer, Ashanti has announced her pregnancy and engagement to rapper Nelly.

The announcement comes seven months after the couple confirmed their rekindled relationship. Ashanti and Nelly first met in 2003 at the Grammy Awards and dated for over a decade.

In an exclusive interview with Essence Magazine on Wednesday, Ashanti expressed gratitude for the blessings in her life.

The singer said, “This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation.

“Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.” 

Ashanti also hinted at her pregnancy in an Instagram video, where she responded to a question saying, “I’m gonna need about nine months.”

While this will be Ashanti’s first child, Nelly has two children from a previous relationship.

The rapper also has two adopted children from his stepsister Jaqueline Donahue, who died from leukemia in 2005.
