176 Women And Children Kidnapped From Kwara Community Begs For Help [Video]

At least 176 kidnapped victims from Woro and Kososo communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have made an emotional appeal for urgent rescue.

The victims, mostly women and children, were reportedly kidnapped on February 3 by suspected Boko Haram fighters believed to be operating in the area.

In the video, dozens of captives were seen looking exhausted and distressed, wearing dirty clothes and appearing physically weak as they pleaded for help.

A voice believed to be one of the armed captors was heard in the background speaking in Hausa and claiming responsibility for the abduction.

The speaker said the victims were being allowed to send a final message so authorities could hear directly from them.

“We are the ones who kidnapped the people of Woro and Kososo. We have indoctrinated them and changed their way of life from what they knew before their abduction.

“However, the victims have been begging us and we have given them the opportunity so that their government can hear from them. We are giving them a final opportunity to appeal to the government. We believe this is clearly understood,” he added.

Several of the captives, speaking under visible fear, begged both the authorities and the public not to ignore them.

One young woman, who looked emotionally drained, appealed in English for help, saying there were small children, pregnant women, and sick people among them who urgently needed assistance.

“Dear Muslim sisters and brothers, we are here today. We are the people who were kidnapped from Woro, Kaiama Local Government Area on February 3. Today is April 8. Please, we are begging you, this is the last opportunity they gave us,” she said.

“We have small children with us and we have some people with pregnancies. Please, assist us. Those who are here, some people with anaemia, please, help us.

“We are begging you. This is the last opportunity that we have, and they teach us the things that we do not know at all, like Tawheedi. We lacked Tawheedi at home even though those people at home know that we lacked Tawheedi. But we are here, they teach us everything, and we understand everything.

“In the name of Allah, we understand everything. And they are not beating us, they give us food and water, everything is available. But we are still begging you, please, we beg you. Please, this is our last opportunity, please. Peace be upon you.”

Another woman also appealed for intervention, directing her plea to the Kwara and Oyo State governments.

She said that although they were being fed, they still desperately wanted to be rescued because this was the last opportunity given to them to speak out.

“They are feeding us and teaching us religion, what we didn’t know at home, we are able to know it here. But we need your help because this is the last chance they gave us. Please help us,” she said.

Other victims were also seen speaking in different local languages, all repeating the same desperate call for help and immediate intervention.

As of the latest reports, neither the Kwara State Government nor security agencies had confirmed the authenticity of the video or announced fresh steps being taken to secure the victims’ release.
