Nigerian actor Yomi Fabiyi has criticized his colleague Baba Ijesha, claiming he was abandoned after supporting him during his legal battles.

In a video, Fabiyi, who had stood by Baba Ijesha throughout his court case, expressed feelings of betrayal.
Yomi Fabiyi said he risked his reputation and career to defend Baba Ijesha, only to be treated unfairly in return.
“Baba Ijesha thinks he has arrived. I sacrificed my life. I put everything on the line for him.
“The little fame and influence I had, I used it to ensure he didn’t get life imprisonment,” Fabiyi said.
He added that he worked hard on Baba Ijesha’s appeal, but was reportedly threatened by someone linked to the actor to stop him from speaking about the case.
Yomi Fabiyi also claimed that after his release, Baba Ijesha recorded a song mocking him and intentionally left him out when acknowledging those who had supported him.
“He thought he could disgrace me,” Fabiyi said, stressing that the controversy has damaged his reputation.
“People now tag me as someone supporting a paedophile because of him. I was once at the American embassy when a woman publicly confronted me over the issue,” he recounted.
Baba Ijesha was arraigned on June 24, 2021, facing six charges, including indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, and attempted sexual assault by penetration.
On July 14, 2022, a Lagos High Court sentenced him to 16 years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor, with the sentences running concurrently, resulting in about five years served.
He was released in November 2025 after completing his prison term.
