The actress had featured Baba Ijesha on her YouTube channel after he was released from prison, where he spent about five years following his conviction on multiple charges, including offences involving a minor.
During the interview, Baba Ijesha denied all the allegations against him which includes indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault by penetration.
The actor claimed he had been set up by comedian Princess and also revealed that actress Iyabo Ojo once trusted him with her children, a statement she rejected while threatening legal action.
The interview sparked backlash online, leading Biola Adebayo to delete the video from her YouTube channel.
In a follow-up video posted on Instagram, she apologised to those who felt hurt by her actions, saying she never intended to upset anyone.
“This is an apology video to everyone that feels offended. I’m so sorry,” the actress said.
Adebayo explained that Baba Ijesha contacted her after regaining his freedom.
At the time, she asked if he would be willing to grant an interview to address the situation and possibly apologise, but he declined, saying he wasn’t ready.
According to her, she left the matter alone until he reached out again last week, this time expressing readiness to speak and requesting to appear on her platform first.
“What happened was, when he came back from prison, he told me he was back, and I asked if he wanted to do an interview to apologise and clear the air,” she said.
“He said he wasn’t ready then. I didn’t ask again until he called me last week saying he was ready and wanted to come to me first.”
She said she expected that he would use the opportunity to apologise and explain himself.
Adebayo stressed that her role was simply to ask questions and allow him to share his side of the story.
“I thought I was just an interviewer — to hear what he has to say. I thought he would apologise, but he did not,” she said.
The actress insisted the interview was not meant to defend or justify his actions.
She also revealed that she is a survivor of sexual assault, making it clear that she would never support such behaviour.
“I would never enable anybody. The interview was not to support Baba Ijesha or agree with what he was saying,” she added.
“To everyone that feels hurt or offended, I am so sorry. Please forgive me. I am learning from this and will be more careful in the future.”
