Police Officer Shoots Another Young Man In Delta, Days After Killing Mene Ogidi [Video]

A young man identified as Aboy Odili has reportedly been shot by a police officer in Asaba, Delta State, just days after the controversial killing of Mene Ogidi.

The latest incident, said to have happened on Tuesday, has triggered fresh anger, with allegations pointing to officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Asaba.

News of the shooting first surfaced on social media through a user known as @govmntdefender, who described the situation as disturbing and called for an urgent investigation.

“RRS Delta State, Asaba reportedly shot a young boy identified as Aboy Odili today 5/05/26. This incident raises serious concerns about the use of force and accountability,” the post read.

The post also urged authorities to ensure justice, stating that no one should lose their life unlawfully.

“We call for immediate investigation and justice. No life should be taken unlawfully.”

The message was directed at the Nigeria Police Force, including its Complaint Response Unit and senior officers, asking them to look into the matter.

In response, the Police Complaint Response Unit confirmed that the case has been forwarded for investigation and promised that findings would be shared, with appropriate action taken if necessary.

“Kindly be informed that this complaint has been escalated for further investigation, findings would be communicated, and necessary actions will be taken in earnest. Thank you for contacting NPF-CRU,” the police unit wrote.

Despite this, many Nigerians remain upset, pointing to what they see as a repeated pattern of alleged police brutality and lack of accountability, especially among tactical units in the state.

This incident comes shortly after the killing of Mene Ogidi in Effurun, which had already sparked widespread criticism and concern over police conduct in Delta.
