The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the start of sales for expression of interest and nomination forms for aspirants preparing for the 2027 general elections.

In a statement on Tuesday, the party said the sale of expression of interest forms would begin on May 13 and end on May 18, 2026.

The statement was jointly signed by Moses Zuwoghe, the party’s national chairman, and Ikenna Enekweizu, the national secretary.

According to the timetable released by the party, screening and interviews for aspirants will hold between May 19 and May 21, 2026.

The party explained that only aspirants who successfully pass the screening process would qualify to purchase nomination forms.

Aspirants were also advised to attend the screening exercise with all necessary credentials and supporting documents.

The NDC stated that nomination forms would be available for sale from May 21 to May 23, while completed forms must be returned on or before May 25, 2026.

The party added that any appeals arising from the screening process would be handled between May 25 and May 26.

Primary elections for different elective positions are scheduled to take place on May 27 and May 28, while the party’s presidential primary is expected to hold on May 29 in Abuja.

The NDC further explained that screening for state house of assembly aspirants would take place in their various states, while national assembly and presidential aspirants would be screened at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

It also disclosed that governorship primaries would be conducted at the local government level.

According to the party, all aspirants must sign an undertaking in line with its code of conduct and internal guidelines.

The NDC assured party members and aspirants that the entire process would be transparent, fair, and democratic.

The party also announced that it would use the open secret ballot system during the primaries to ensure credibility and fairness.

Speaking on fees, the NDC said its nomination charges remain among the cheapest compared to other major political parties in Nigeria.

Under the approved fee structure, aspirants for state houses of assembly are expected to pay N1 million for expression of interest forms and N1.5 million for nomination forms.

House of Representatives aspirants will pay N2 million for expression of interest forms and N4 million for nomination forms.

Senate aspirants are to pay N3 million for expression of interest forms and N5 million for nomination forms.

For governorship aspirants, the party fixed the fees at N10 million for expression of interest forms and N20 million for nomination forms.

Presidential aspirants are expected to pay N20 million for expression of interest forms and N40 million for nomination forms.

The party also announced discounts for certain categories of aspirants, stating that female aspirants would pay 50 percent of the fees, while persons living with disabilities would pay only 25 percent across all categories.
