Diamonds really are a girl’s best friend: New anti-ageing face cream made of precious stone sells out in just one day

Scientists have discovered diamonds could hold
anti-aging properties which reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
A new moisturiser containing tiny particles of
the precious stone is being snapped up by women in their millions after it was
launched in Britain last month.

More than four million pots of the 15ml Judith
Williams Luxury Diamond day cream were sold by the shopping channel QVC in just
one day and it has a waiting list of another one million.

The moisturiser, created by German television
presenter and opera singer Judith Williams, contains Diamagen – real diamond
particles, which profess to give the skin an instant radiance and glow.

They help boost the supply of collagen – the
elastic substance which causes sagging and wrinkles when it diminishes with
age.
In tests the cream, which costs £29.50 for a
50ml pot, reduced the depth of wrinkles by nearly 30 per cent when used daily
for a month.

Miss Williams said she had decided to work
with diamonds because she wanted to create creams which combined cosmetic
science with pure ingredients from nature.
Although diamonds don’t come cheap, she added:
‘It’s important to me that my creams are affordable. Too many skincare lines are
overpriced – for me it’s about what’s in the pot.’

The Diamagen complex is created from particles
of ground diamonds.
It works by targeting the base of the skin’s
epidermis, where it stimulates and strengthens by boosting collagen and
inhibiting the destruction of enzymes which protect against environmental
damage, such as the sun’s rays.

It is particularly effective at boosting three
different types of collagen – the tough, largely abundant type one collagen also
found in the tendons, bones and tissues which gives skin its mechanical
strength; the fast growing type three collagen, which is abundant in children,
is produced in the early stages of wound repair and gives the skin it’s
softness; and collagen produced in the membranes of capillaries – the tiny blood
vessels in the skin.

The cream also contains three anti-wrinkle
peptides, or amino acids, which prevent collagen breakdown and helps smoothes
fine lines and wrinkles.
