2019 Election: Atiku Boycotts Peace Accord Signing, Gives Reason He Didn’t Attend

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, has boycotted the signing of Peace Accord among all presidential candidates for the 2019 general elections,  which was organized by the National Peace Committee headed by the former Head of State, retired Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar.

The Peace Accord is an undertaking by all the presidential candidates to ensure peaceful and rancor-free campaigns before, during and after the 2019 general elections.

The candidates are also expected to avoid hate speech, fake news or any act capable of causing socio-political unrest in the country.

During the event, the presidential candidate of a major opposition party, PDP, was not present.

According to The Cable, the spokesman of the PDP presidential candidate, Paul Ibe said Atiku was not officially invited to the peace accord signing. He said:

“His Excellency did not get any invitation for the programme. I have spoken with him and I can confirm he wasn’t invited.”
