Minister of Transportation Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has paid a visit to an undisclosed hospital, to some victims of violence in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections in Rivers State.

During the visit, Amaechi who is the former Governor of Rivers State and Leader of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the South-South, prayed for the victim’s quick recovery and assured them that the party will pay for the medical bills of the patients. He said:

“The party,(APC) will pay the medical bills but let the patients get the best of medical attention they deserve.”

Amaechi worried that youths could still allow themselves to be used by desperate politicians to cause violence during elections.

He called on the Management of the hospital to give the best medical attention to the patients so as to ensure their quick recovery.

Recall that scores of members of the APC were gruesomely attacked and some killed by suspected thugs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the Presidential and National Assembly elections in the State.

In a similar development, the former Governor has also expressed sadness on the demise of some APC members at the stampede which occurred during the party’s Presidential Campaign Rally at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Speaking in an emotion ladden voice when he paid a condolence visit to the family of one of the deceased Mr. Bestman Kalagbor, Amaechi urged the bereaved family to take solace in God.

He also said that the Party would assist the bereaved family in times of need even as efforts would be made to arrest orchestrators of the stampede. He said:

“We’ll participate during the burial and we will assist the family. Please let us know the details of the burial arrangement so we can pay our last respect to him and we will also fish out all those who caused the stampede at the Stadium.”
