Nigerians Reacts As Burna Boy Claims ‘He’s The Best After Fela Kuti, Nobody Paved Way For Him’

Nigerians are currently reacting to a declaration by by singer, Burna Boy, who stated that he is the best since Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, and that no one paved a way for him.

Burna Boy had taken to Twitter page to declare that he always knew from onset that he’s the best since Fela Kuti, adding that even celebrities who claim to be the best know this.

The singer, however, noted that Timaya advised him to stop caring about being the best because the world can do without them.

“FACT! I always knew I was and I am THE BEST. Everyone you think is the best KNOWS I’m BEST since Fela Kuti. But @timayatimaya told me something a long time ago that made me not care about being the best. “The World can do without the Best” the world will still spin regardless,”he wrote.

A fan who was not pleased with Burna Boy’s tweet replied him by asking where he was when afrobeat was struggling to hit the mainstream between 2010-2018.

The fan identified as Jezzy Joseph, noted that he (Burna Boy) only came in when the stage was set by other singers adding that he’s not the best.

“Where were you since 2010-2018? I mean where the f**k are you when Afrobeat was struggling to hit the mainstream? The BEST paved the way for you. You came In when the table has already been set and here you’re claiming the BEST since Fela.”

With the fans opinion on the issue not pleasing Burna Boy, the Grammy Award nominee replied him by stating that nobody paved way for him as he demands for the respect he deserves.

“NOBODY paved shit for me. Everybody dey find them own. I bin Out here, if you knew the way they made us look weak by begging and paying the western world to like us you will see that no table was set and I’m the one that brought you the Respect you currently enjoy.”

Burna Boy also called out his colleagues for being pretentious. He wrote:

“The same people that wish you the best to your face are the same people that hope and pray you Fail so that they can feel better about themselves. That’s just Life. That’s why complements mean nothing to me cuz hate, Jealousy and “it shoul have been me” are sugar coated by them.”

Many Nigerians on Twitter disgaree with Burna Boy’s assertion that he brought the respect Afrobeat is currently enjoying.
