“Fake News From Nigeria” – Trump Slams CNN Over Report On Iran-US Ceasefire Deal

US President Donald Trump has accused CNN of publishing a false report about Iran, which he claims was based on information from a Nigerian news outlet, regarding a ceasefire deal.

Trump had initially given Iran a deadline of 8 p.m. ET Tuesday to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, warning that failure to comply could have catastrophic consequences.

About 90 minutes before the deadline, Trump and the White House announced that the U.S. and Iran had agreed to negotiate an end to hostilities.

It was gathered that the deal included reopening the Strait of Hormuz and pausing fighting for two weeks.

After the announcement, CNN published a live blog post quoting Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).

The report stated that Iran had won a “historic and crushing victory” and forced the U.S. to accept its 10-point plan.

The CNN post read: “The enemy, in its unfair, unlawful, and criminal war against the Iranian nation, has suffered an undeniable, historic, and crushing defeat.

“Iran says it has achieved a great victory and forced the United States to accept its 10-point plan, according to a statement from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council report by Iranian state media.”

Reacting in a Truth Social post, Trump rejected the report, calling it fraudulent and accusing CNN of spreading misinformation.

He claimed the statement came from a fake news site in Nigeria and was falsely presented by CNN as authentic.

The alleged Statement put out by CNN World News is a FRAUD, as CNN well knows. The false Statement was linked to a Fake News site (from Nigeria) and, of course, immediately picked up by CNN, and blared out as a ‘legitimate’ headline,” Trump wrote.

The US president demanded that CNN remove the report and threatened to investigate the network.

“Authorities are looking to determine whether or not a crime was committed on the issuance of the Fake CNN World Statement, or was it a sick rogue player?

“CNN is being ordered to immediately withdraw this Statement with full apologies for their, as usual, terrible ‘reporting. Results of the investigation will be announced in the near future,” Trump added.

This comes after Donald Trump warned that Iran’s civilization could be wiped out overnight if no agreement is reached.
