KanyiDaily had reported how the Lebanese man placed a $1,000 price tag on the Nigerian lady, in a closed group on Facebook ‘Buy and Sell in Lebanon’.

Several Nigerians had condemned the move, asking the Nigerian government to swiftly wade into the issue and ensure justice is done.

Reacting to the outrage, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa said the country’s mission in Lebanon had reported the issue to the host authorities, adding that “a manhunt was already on.”

Dabiri-Erewa later announced the arrest of the suspect by the Lebanese government, whom she said would be prosecuted for “criminal sales of a human.”

In a fresh update on her Twitter page on Tuesday, Dabiri-Erewa said the Nigerian Mission in Beirut, Lebanon, has located the lady and rescued her.

The NIDCOM boss also shared a short video clip of an interview conducted with Ufuoma on her personal Twitter handle.

In the video, she can be heard saying that trouble started after the person she was working for couldn’t afford to pay her salary.

“The person that I am working with said that he can’t pay my salary again and I told him if he knows that he can’t pay my salary, he should take me back to…,” she can be heard saying.
