Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has sparked outrage online after he was caught on camera allegedly ‘trying to covert a Christian girl to Islam’.
In a now viral video, the Governor who spoke in Hausa language, was seen questioning a young girl who ‘reportedly had decided to change her faith.’
Ganduje asked the young girl to pick a Muslim name, adding that a ‘Malami would put her through on what Islam is all about.’
The video has generated a lot of outrageous reactions from Nigerians who accused Ganduje of forcefully converting the young girl to Islam.
However, the media aide to the governor, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, who did not deny the allegation, maintained that the young girl is a pagan and not Christian.
Reacting to the video on his Twitter page, Yakasai wrote:
“They are pagans not Christians. Kano has a good number of them and both Muslim and Christians go on a mission to try and convert as many as they can to their side. ECWA Church is doing well in this bcos they usually preach in Hausa.”
