President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of one of his media aides, Lauretta Onochie, as a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) representing Delta State.
Onochie who is the Special Assistant to President Buhari on Social Media, was appointed along with Prof. Mohammed Sani Katsina), Prof. Kunle Ajayi (Ekiti), and Seidu Ahmed (Jigawa).
This was contained in a letter read by the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday, October 12, 2020.
President Buhari said the nomination was pursuant to Paragraph 14 of part 1F of the First Schedule of the 1999 Constitution.
