Nigerian youths protesting against the extrajudicial activities of the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), have shutdown Iwo road in Ibadan, causing major gridlock in Oyo State.
KanyiDaily had reported that there is an ongoing #EndSARS protest across the country against the SARS tactical unit of the Nigerian Police Force over brutality, illegal arrest, extortion, extra-judicial killings, among others.
It was gathered that the #EndSARS protesters blocked the Iwo road in Ibadan on Tuesday morning, causing a massive gridlock around the area as many travellers are stranded and held in traffic.
Punch quoted one of the protesters, identified simply as Akande, saying, “It is our right to protest. We apologise to those affected by the gridlock, but we expect that they should be part of us. They are also exploited by policemen while travelling.”
This development is coming barely 24 hours after #EndSARS protesters blocked the Lekki Toll Gate section of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos State.
