President Muhammadu Buhari has restated that his administration is committed towards lifting hundred million Nigerians out of poverty.
Buhari made this known on Thursday via his Twitter page, while announcing the approval of an increase in the Social Investment Programme.
He approved the expansion of N-Power and GEEP beneficiaries to one million, while five million pupils would be added into the National Home-Grown School Feeding Program (NHGSFP).
“We remain committed to the plan to lift 100m Nigerians out of poverty. To this end, I have approved an increase in scope of our Social Investment Programme: Doubling of @npower_ng beneficiaries to 1 million; 1 million new @geep_ng beneficiaries & 5 million new pupils for @NHGSFP,” the president said.
KanyiDaily recalls that President Buhari had claimed that his administration has lifted five million Nigerians out of extreme poverty in his first term.
Meanwhile, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo had revealed that it would take President Buhari ten years to lift 10 millions Nigerian out of poverty.
