A 13-year-old pupil has given birth to a baby boy during a Mathematics examination in the ongoing Primary Leaving Examinations in Mpigi District, Uganda.
This was made known by Mr Godfrey Ssema, the head teacher of St Balikuddembe Primary School, Jalamba Ward in Buwama Town Council, Mpigi District.
According to him, the 13-year-old girl developed labour pains during a Mathematics examination on Wednesday morning, March 31.
“After 20 minutes, she alerted the invigilator who called colleagues and rushed the girl to a nearby medical centre,” Mr Ssemanda said.
Ms Goreth Mirembe, the nurse at the clinic said the girl delivered a bouncing baby boy and was taken back to the school to complete her paper in an isolated environment.
Mr Ssemanda the invigilator gave the girl extra 45 minutes to compete the examination which she had already started before she went into labour.
During a chat with Daily Monitor, the girl’s parents revealed that their daughter was impregnated during the Covid-19 lockdown last year.
“She was lured into conjugal acts during this Covid-19 lockdown by a certain boy because they were not going to school,” one of the parents said.
KanyiDaily had also reported how a 21-year-old lady took one of her secondary school leaving examination, 30 minutes after giving birth in Metu, western Ethiopia.
