Kogi NTA Staff, Chukwu Odiahu Stoned To Death As Police Arrest All Workers On Duty

Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of Chukwu Odiahu, a staff of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) in Okene Local Government Area of the State.

Odiahu, who worked at the engineering department of the NTA broadcast station in Okene, was stoned dead after he closed from work on Tuesday evening.

A staff of NTA in Okene, who spoke under anonymity, said they all woke up on Wednesday morning to see the death of one of their colleagues under the engineering department.

”When we closed transmission around 10pm on Tuesday, he left the office premises. Unfortunately this morning, (Wednesday), we discovered his corpse that he was killed with stones by some persons who we do not know.

“All the staff on duty have been arrested because they are prime suspects. The incident has been reported to the Police for investigation. Odiahu is a gentleman who is committed to his duty. He died a horrible death”.

It was gathered that all staff on duty when the incident occurred had been arrested to help the police in their investigation at the Divisional Office of the Nigeria Police Force in Okene.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP William Aya said information got to the command that an unidentified corpse was discovered along Okene-Magogo road at about 6.30 am on Wednesday.

According to him, when the Okene division visited the scene, it was discovered that the dead man was a staff of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Okene.

He added that said the victim was murdered in circumstances that were still unclear, but when the body was examined, it was discovered to have been bruised and had blood stains all over.

Ayah said the corpse had since been deposited at a mortuary in Okengwe hospital while investigation continued to unravel and arrest those behind the crime.

KanyiDaily had also reported how a staff of Obafemi Awolowo University, Fisayo Oyeniyi hanged himself to death after sending a suicide message to his family.
