A member of the House of Representatives, Shina Peller has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after losing the party’s Oyo North senatorial primary to the incumbent senator, Abdulfatai Buhari.
In a post shared on his Twitter page, the lawmaker who represents lseyin/ltesiwaju/Kajola/lwajowa federal constituency said he was leaving the ruling party because the “style of democracy in Oyo State kills my conscience”.
Peller further claimed that his continued stay in APC would be at the detriment of interest of his supporters, particularly the youths.
The lawmaker noted that he would announce his new party next Tuesday.
He wrote, “I’ve tried my best for APC, the party style of democracy in Oyo State kills my conscience and I’ve to put my people’s interest first. I’ve realized that the youths and the people will continue to be at the mercy of few at the top. I’ll announce my new political party on 21|06|22.”
Shina Peller’s defecting from the ruling APC comes two weeks after he lost the party’s Oyo North Senatorial ticket to the incumbent Senator, Fatai Buhari.
