Popular Nigerian singer, Davido has congratulated his uncle and Governor-elect of Osun state, Ademola Adeleke after he received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
KanyiDaily had reported how Adeleke, the governorship candidate of the PDP, was declared the winner of the Osun election on Sunday morning, July 17, 2020.
Adeleke secured 403,371 votes to defeat the incumbent Osun Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, who polled 375,027 votes on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.
Davido played a crucial role in Adeleke’s victory in the election as he mobilised several voters for his uncle and headlined his campaigns.
Wednesday, July 20, the INEC presented the certificate of return to Adeleke and the deputy governor-elect, Prince Kola Adewusi in Osogbo.
Talking to his Twitter page, Davido appreciated God that his efforts paid off, adding that “I feel victorious” because he put his family name and music career on the line by campaigning for his uncle in the poll.
He wrote, “It’s been a long battle fought!! We put our Family name on the line, I put my career on the line! But we had faith!! This was God testing us if we really believed in him!! I feel victorious! Congrats! Your excellency @AAdeleke_01! As for me, it’s back to the studio!”
