Governor Samuel Ortom’s Convoy Crashes In Abuja
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Terver Akase, in a statement on Sunday said the convoy was heading to Benue after accompanying the governor to Abuja Airport when one of the vehicles collided with a golf car near Karu Flyover in Nyanya.
Akase, who disclosed that the incident happened on Sunday morning, confirmed that no life was lost in the incident, boring that the governor had since arrived safely at his destination.
The statement read: “We have received numerous calls from concerned Nigerians regarding the accident which occurred yesterday near Karu Flyover in Nyanya area of the Federal Capital Territory.
“The governor’s convoy was on the way from Abuja to Makurdi after accompanying him to the airport for his trip to the United Kingdom (UK) when a golf car collided with one of the security vehicles. We thank God that no life was lost in the incident.
“Governor Ortom, who has already arrived safely in the UK, deeply appreciates all the calls and concerns from Benue people and other Nigerians.”
Ortom is expected to spend two weeks both in the United Kingdom and United States of America.
Akase said the governor was invited as a special guest to two international summits this week in the UK and United States.
The events, according to Akase, will focus on peace-building, social justice, and sustainable development in Nigeria as well as other parts of the world.
KanyiDaily recalls that Governor Samuel Ortom had last year narrated how he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt when suspected herdsmen ambushed him on his farm in Tyomu community, less than 20 kilometers from Makurdi.
