If You Take ASUU Or FG To Court, Only God Knows When Strike Will End – Shehu Sani Cautions Students

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central in the Senate, Shehu Sani, has urged Nigerian students not to drag the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) or the Federal Government to court.

Sani was apparently reacting to the call made by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu that students should sue ASUU over the prolonged strike embarked upon by the union.

Education Minister, Adamu Adamu  Asks Nigerian Students To Take ASUU To Court 

Adamu had during a briefing at the presidential villa on Thursday, suggested that Nigerian students should “take ASUU to court” to claim damages incurred over the strike period.

Recall that that ASUU had since February this year, proceeded on a warning strike over the Federal government’s failure to meet its demands.

Several meetings between the government and the union to resolve the impasse have all ended in deadlock.

Shehu Sani Speaks To Students Over ASUU Strike

Reacting to the call by the education minister, Sani took to his official twitter handle on Friday evening and appealed to the students not to approach the court.

He said the issue should be resolved through the instrumentality of dialogue.

According to him, if the students go to court and even invite Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) to help them, court adjournments will cripple the matter.

He added that once that happen, only God can tell when the strike will end.

“Students should not take ASUU or the FG to court over the strike.Let the issue be resolved on a dialogue table.If you go to court and invite SANs and SANs into the matter,Court adjournments will jam the strike.Only God will know when the wahala go end,” Sani tweeted.

Kanyi Daily had reported that the ASUU President, Emmanuel Osodeke had yesterday, August 18th, said the reason most Nigerian politicians are foreigners as they don’t live in the country.

He added that their families live children school abroad in the best schools and as such, they don’t care about the lingering ASUU strike.

“With all due respect, most Nigerian politicians are foreigners, their families live abroad, study abroad, all they do is come here, spend a few days, pick as much money and go back to ‘their countries’ to go and enjoy the money.

“There’s the issue of insecurity and all sort of things are happening in this country, the politicians are not bothered because they are not here,” Osodeke said.
