President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Adepoju Sunday as the new Postmaster General/Chief Executive Officer for the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST).
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 5th by the spokesperson to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Uwa Suleiman.
According to the statement, the appointment was based on the recommendation of the minister, Prof Isa Pantami.
NIPOST is an agency under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.
The statement read in part, “The new Postmaster General of NIPOST, Hon. Adepoju Adeyemi Sunday, is appointed for an initial term of five years.”
The appointment takes immediate effect.
The statement added that Adepoju is a professional accountant and a former member of the Federal House of Representatives from 2011 – 2015 and 2015 – 2019, representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency.
Reports say the Federal Government, through the Communications Minister had earlier approved the appointment of Bulus Yakubu as acting Postmaster General of the Federation/CEO, NIPOST.
This was following the suspension of Dr. Ismail Adewusi, who was appointed in 2019.
