Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended all its political activities over the death of Ifeanyi Adeleke, the son of popular Nigerian singer, Davido, and his fiancee, Chioma Rowland.
KanyiDaily had reported that Davido’s three-year-old son, Ifeanyi was confirmed dead on Monday, October 31, 2022, after drowning in a swimming pool at his father’s residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State.
In a statement on Tuesday, Osun Caretaker Chairman of PDP, Dr. Adekunle Akindele expressed sadness over the incident and prayed with the family for God to console Davido, the cousin to Osun Governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke.
Adeleke also directed all party organs and committees to suspend all their political activities for the week to commiserate with the family of Davido who he described as “our youth ambassador.”
The statement reads, “Following the death of Ifeanyi, all party activities are hereby suspended to commiseration with the family of Adeleke.
“We mourn the sorrowful exit of our son, Ifeanyi. We pray for the repose of his soul. It is a sad day but we remain steadfast in our faith in the Lord of the Universe.
“Our condolence goes to Davido, our youth ambassador. We commiserate with our father figure, Dr Deji Adeleke and the entire Adeleke family. We pray the good Lord grant the family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
Meanwhile, Lagos Police Command has revealed that eight domestic workers of Davido were brought in for questioning to assist the police in ascertaining the circumstances surrounding the death of Ifeanyi Adeleke.
