EFCC Arrests 28 Suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’, Recovers 37 Phones, 5 Laptops, Others

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says operatives of its Makurdi Zonal Command have arrested twenty-eight (28) suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo Boys” in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

28 Suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’ Arrested By EFCC

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday evening by the Spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren.

Uwujaren said the Yahoo Boys were arrested on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at their hideout in Lafia, Nasarawa State, following intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet fraud.

He gave the names of the suspected Yahoo Boys as Yusuf Mudi, Umar Ibrahim, Gabriel Selumun, Moses Hamidu, Christian Daniel Kelechi, Sara Abdullah, Abdulsalam Ogba, Ngene Sunday Chinonso, Muoneke Chukuojekwe Celestine, Terhemen sesugh Silas, Emmanuel Phillip, Emmanuel Akwe, Jones Kismet, Shehu Khalif, Emmanuel Isaiah, and Adeleke Kehinde Raphael.

The names of the other Yahoo Boys, according to the EFCC image maker are, Samuel Kubialah, Sanusi Abdullahi, Dugeri Jerome, Terhemen Mkavter Mark, Joshua Emmanuel, Gedion Sunday, Terwase Kator Kenneth, Benny Ukeh Iyaji, Arigu Nathaniel Bishara, Emmanuel John Idi, Omotunde Mayowa, Kenneth Joy, Ozigho Agnes, and Rejoice Solomon.

The EFCC spokesman listed the items recovered from the suspected Yahoo Boys to include, thirty-seven (37) different phones, Five (5) Laptop computers, five ATM cards of different banks, Two(2) identity cards, two(2) wallets, two laptop chargers, one knife, three power banks, one hard drive, and one battery charger.

“They will be charged to Court as soon as the investigations are concluded,” he added.

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported how operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA successfully dismantled a trans-border drug cartel and arrested five leaders of the syndicates operating in parts of the world in a special operation that lasted weeks during which different quantities of skunk, methamphetamine, and ephedrine as well as air compressors used to conceal and distribute them globally were recovered.
