How Burglar Raped Housewife In Daughter’s Presence

A 47-year-old suspected burglar, Ganiyu Yusuf has been arrested by the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly raping a housewife in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Reports say Yusuf allegedly broke into a house in the Oloje area, Ilorin, through the roof on June 1, 2021, overpowered and raped the only female occupant of the building, and escaped from the state.

He was also said to have stolen two laptops and two phones from the building.

The Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in the state, Olasunkanmi Ayeni, said the suspect was apprehended at Mokwa, Niger State, last Thursday, January 5, 2023.

“A case of robbery and rape was reported at the NSCDC Kwara State Command headquarters, Ilorin, on June 1, 2022.

“The command commenced a serious search for the suspect after the incident was reported. Fortunately, the suspect was eventually tracked down at Mokwa, Niger State, on January 5, 2023.

“The suspect, Ganiyu Yusuf, 47, a native of Abeokuta, Ogun State, confessed that he broke into the house on that fateful day through the roof. After gaining access to the house in the Oloje area in Ilorin, he overpowered the woman who was alone with her two-year-old baby in the house. He raped the woman in the presence of her two-year-old daughter and went away with two laptops and two Android phones belonging to the victim.

“The command is still searching for the buyers of the exhibits.”

Ayeni said the state Commandant of the NSCDC, Mallam Tukur Ibrahim, said the suspect would be prosecuted after the completion of the investigation.

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has sent a strong message to Nigerian youths ahead of the 2023 general elections.

In a tweet on his handle on Thursday evening, Sani said the Nigerian youth constitute the majority of the 93 million registered voters.
