NNPC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, who announced the oil discovery, said that the company would spud the first oil well in Nasarawa in March 202.
According to him, the discovery was in continuation of the NNPC’s oil exploration activities in the country’s inland basins.
The NNPC in a tweet on Friday said Kyari announced the oil discovery during a visit by a delegation of prominent Nasarawa indigenes, led by Abdullahi Sule, the state governor.
The tweet reads, “Group CEO @nnpclimited @MKKyari announced today that the official spud-in of first oil well in Nasarawa State will commence in March 2023. This, according to @MKKyari, is in continuation of hydrocarbon exploration activities in Nigeria’s inland basins.
