Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has lost his Benue North West Senatorial District bid in the National Assembly.

Samuel Ortom, who contested the polls under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost the seat to his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart in the district, Titus Zam.

Zam polled 143,151 while Ortom scored 106,882 and the Labour Party candidate scored 51,950.

Zam was an appointee of Ortom in his first tenure from 2015 to 2019, where he served as the Special Adviser to the governor on local government and chieftaincy affairs before he resigned from the Ortom administration on loyalty grounds.

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi swept the entire Enugu state in Saturday’s presidential election conducted in the state.

Peter Obi was therefore declared the winner of the presidential election in the state.
