President Buhari, Tinubu Congratulates Tems On Her Grammy Win
President Muhammadu Buhari and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu have congratulated songstress Tems for winning the Grammys.
KanyiDaily recalls that Tems bagged her first Grammy award in the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category for her vocal and writing contribution to the smashing hit ‘Wait For U’ by Future featuring Drake.
In a statement on Monday by a presidential aide, Femi Adesina, the president praised Tems for showcasing her talent and putting Nigeria in the spotlight for excellence.
“President Buhari extols Tems, Temilade Openiyi, for showcasing her talent to the world, with dedication and hard work, which, again, has placed Nigeria in the spotlight for excellence,” the statement reads.
“The President lauds all Nigerian nominees for this year’s Grammy, including Burna Boy, for pursuing their passion with vigour and continuously reinventing global entertainment, with creativity.
“President Buhari thanks the creative industry, particularly managers, producers, and directors, for encouraging talents, like Tems, who have taken Nigeria’s culture and tourism to the world, further displaying the resourcefulness and potential of a great nation.”
Taking to his Twitter page, Tinubu also hailed Tems for being the first female artiste from the Nigerian music industry to win a Grammy award.
He wrote: “I join other Nigerians in congratulating Temilade Openiyi aka Tems @temsbaby on winning the Grammy award in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for her contribution to the hit song “Wait for U” – featuring Future and Drake”.
