“Your Stolen Funds Are Now Useless” – Bashir Ahmad Replies El-Rufai, Ganduje

Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad has slammed Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and his Kaduna state counterpart, Nasir El-Rufai, for criticizing the naira redesign policy by President Muhammadu Buhari.

"Your Stolen Funds Are Now Useless" - Buhari's Aide, Bashir Ahmad Replies El-Rufai, Ganduje

KanyiDaily recalls that in a nationwide broadcast on Thursday, Buhari said he had directed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to extend the validity of old N200 notes till April 10.

The president, however, declared that the old 500 and 1000 naira notes were no longer legal tender. He asked Nigerians to take them to the CBN and designated points.

Reacting to the development, Governor Ganduje attacked Buhari over the naira redesign policy, saying the president was fighting those that brought him to power after three failed attempts.

Ganjuje wondered why the president and the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele did not think of the naira notes swap policy seven years ago and why it had to be on the eve of an election.

He further stated that Buhari had no tangible achievements to point out throughout his stay in office but had instead decided to pay those that supported him by destroying the party that brought him to power.

In a broadcast to Kaduna residents on Thursday night, El-Rufai also declared that the old notes remain legal tender until the Supreme Court of Nigeria decides otherwise.

El-Rufai said Buhari was deceived by the CBN leadership to accept the narrative that the policy was meant to check politicians who amassed huge cash to buy votes during the elections.

He also said the policy was orchestrated by some APC members who lost out at the party’s presidential primary and are now desperate to frustrate the party and its candidates.

The governor, therefore, directed Kaduna residents to continue accepting the N500 and N1000 notes as legal tender until the apex court determines the suit on the matter.

Reacting on his Facebook page, Bashir Ahmad claimed that both El-Rufai and Ganduje are only angry because the money they have stolen and stashed is now worthless.

The presidential aide also dared both governors to directly deposit the alleged stashed money they are claiming was legally gotten to CBN for the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the legality of the money.

He wrote, “They have stashed money and now they’re useless. That’s the reason for all the fuming. Ganduje and co don’t care about the masses.

“If the money Ganduje and friends are shouting about is legit, why don’t they deposit it to CBN, the EFCC and NFIU will wait for them to verify.”

KanyiDaily recalls that the Supreme Court has temporarily restrained the CBN from implementing the deadline for the swapping of old to new Naira notes.
