Election: 140 Thugs Arrested By Soldiers In Enugu

A total of 140 thugs have been reportedly arrested by soldiers providing security in Enugu State for the governorship and House of Assembly elections.

The 140 thugs were arrested with arms and ammunition in the university town of Nsukka in the Nsukka Local Government Area.

Reports say the thugs were apprehended at about 7:30 am on Saturday at a popular Carolina hotel, Nsukka.

The security operative also arrested three hoodlums at the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Nsukka.

The thugs, a source disclosed were fully armed with weapons including AK-47 rifles.

The source added that thugs have confessed to having been deployed by the chairman of the local government, Walter Ozioko.

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that the immediate past Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Bisi Egbeyemi has died.

Bisi Egbeyemi, who died at the age of 78, was the state’s number two citizen under Governor Kayode Fayemi.
