Nigerians Reacts As Lagos Govt Revert Bus Fares To 100% By April 1st

Nigerians on Twitter have been reacting to the news by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority that bus fares in the state would be returning to 100%.

The commission disclosed this in a statement on its official Instagram handle on Tuesday.

The commission statement reads in part, “With effect from Saturday, 1st April, bus fares on all regulated buses – BRT, standard and FLM– shall revert to 100 per cent rate.”

Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state had on 8 February 2023 announced the reduction of transportation fares in the state by 50 per cent.

Reacting to the latest development, most Nigerians expressed displeasure over the government’s planned action.

According to them, the government succeeded in deceiving the people with the earlier reduction in fare as a strategy to win their votes for the March 18th gubernatorial election in the state.

Below are some of their reactions.

“Hahahahahhaahha, APC dey carry us go where we no know ooooooo. The election is over now their true colour will surface.”

“Lmaooo. Election don finish nah, promo is over.”

“Am sure this doesn’t include the “na Yoruba get Lagos and if you won’t vote APC, go back to your house” people them🤪.”

“Lol. Wayo government. They don use that one to deceive some yeye people collect votes finish😒”

“Party is over. Back to life.”

“Nawaaaaaaa ooooooo, we can see what we used our hand to cause like this. The game is up; fire for fire now.”

“Party is over. Reality sets in.”

“Vote buying is over 😎😅😂”

“Hwva to those yoruba people attacking Igbos in Lagos, make una come see wetin una put una inside”

APC magic, after all.. voting don finish.”

“Second tenure secured, hardship PRO MAX activated 😂😂😂. These leaders have zero consciences.”

“Election don end.. suffering don resume..lol @followlasg”

“Bus fares returning to 100% for non-Yorubas and non-APC members. Get your Apc card you get a 50% discount on trans. That’s what he means.”

“Hope d supporters of d second term are seeing this also, I hope there will be special buses that will be conveying d supporters every day. And hope d money shared with you supporters during the election will be enough for d 100% increase and still feed you all for d next 4years?#NewLagos😂”

“Elections are over politicians have achieved their aims, BRT fare is back to 100%. Just show your Yoruba Ronu Card, & enjoy free bus rides.”

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has celebrated Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu on the occasion of his 71st birthday anniversary.
