KanyiDaily recalls that the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, and his camp in the All Progressives Congress (APC), had fought against the CBN’s Naira redesign policy.
On Friday, the Supreme Court ended the controversy over the Naira redesign policy when it held that Buhari’s directive on the redesign of the new notes without due consultation was invalid.
The apex court also extended the validity of the old N200, N500, and N1,000 naira notes till December 31, stating that the CBN must continue to receive the notes from Nigerians.
Reacting on his Twitter page, Shehu Sani described the CBN boss’ situation as that of a “Zebra in the hands of tigers,” when Buhari leaves office on May 29.
According to him, Emefiele might not be protected against those who tackled the policy when the president eventually hands over to Tinubu later in the year.
“When Baba (Buhari) is gone, Emefiele will be like Zebra in the hands of Tigers,” Sani said in a post via his verified Twitter handle late Saturday.
KanyiDaily recalls that the APC had called on the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami to resign for misleading President Muhammadu Buhari to flout the Supreme Court order on the new naira redesign policy.
