BREAKING: Naira Devaluation Fake News – CBN

The CBN stated this in a short tweet on its official handle on Thursday.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has debunked a report by a national daily that it has devalued the naira to N631 per dollar at the importers’ and exporters’ (I&E) window.

The CBN stated this in a short tweet on its official handle on Thursday.

The tweet simply reads, “CBN did not devalue the Naira!”

Daily Trust had reported on Wednesday, that the CBN devalued the Naira to N631 to the dollar from N461.6.

According to the source who spoke to the media house, the dollar was sold at the new rate on the Importers and Exporters window on Wednesday.

The report further stated that the devaluation came 48 hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the plans of the federal government to unify the country’s exchange rate to stimulate the economy.

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, met with the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
