Tinubu’s N8000 Palliative Is A Lot Of Money To Many Poor Families – Abdullahi Sule

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule claims that the N8000 proposed by President Bola Tinubu as palliative holds significant value for many households across the country.

KanyiDaily recalls that President Tinubu had asked the National Assembly to approve the $800 million loan requests of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for the social safety net program.

If the loan is approved, Tinubu said his government “will transfer the sum of N8,000 per month to 12 million poor and low-income households for a period of six months, with a multiplier effect on about 60 million individuals.”

According to him, the disbursement of the palliatives would cushion the effect of the hardship Nigerians have experienced since the removal of the fuel subsidy in May.

Reacting to the development during an interview with Channels TV on Friday, Governor Sule said that the proposed amount holds great importance to many individuals belonging to extremely impoverished families.

Citing the previous distribution of N5000, which numerous people eagerly awaited every month, the governor said the task of the government is to identify “people who are from very poor families”.

Sule said, “We were sharing only N5000 — and believe me, there were so many people that were waiting for that N5000 every month.

“Indeed there were some communities that were able to do some kind of contributions, and they were able to do a lot in their various communities.

“So, N8000 may not be so much money to some people, but it is a lot to so many other people who are from very poor families that don’t see N8000 every month. So, the only thing is that let us identify those families.”

KanyiDaily recalls that rapper Eedris Abdulkareem described Tinubu’s N8000 palliative as a scam, stressing that Nigerians need opportunities for productivity, not handouts.
