Four people have been rescued after a helicopter crashed into a building and immediately burst into flames in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.

The incident happened around 3.30 pm on Tuesday, August 1, near the AP fuel station, close to a branch of the United Bank for Africa in the Oba Akran area of the state capital.

According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the operator of the helicopter is not known yet.

NEMA spokesman, Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed that two white men and two black men were onboard during the crash which left three craters on the ground due to the impact.

“There were two white men and two black men on board. Three craters on the spot created by impacts on the ground,” he said.

Men of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service are being awaited for further emergency operations to salvage the situation.

KanyiDaily recalls that in 2020, another helicopter had also crashed into a residential building in Opebi area of Lagos State.
