Old woman die as land grabbers, Police invade estate in Ibadan
The residents of Atere-Isokan Estate in Elewe Ibadan are currently embroiled in a tussle with land grabbers who will go to any length to take over their lands.
Few days ago, the land grabbers stormed the estate with bulldozers and police officers, arrested some land lords and went ahead to destroy the fences of almost all the houses in the community.
Below is the press release from the estate association.
ATTENTION! ATTENTION!! ATTENTION!!!
This is to inform the general public of the recent events that occurred in Atere-Isokan Estate Odo-Ona Elewe Ibadan, and which was the third time that police and land grabbers will invade the community.
However, what happened on Friday, September 22 2023 was the most nauseating and catastrophic as Police entered houses to forcefully arrest the Landlords without a warrant but only with an order from the Officer in Charge of Legal, Ms Funke Fawole at the State Criminal Investigative Division, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
After the police left with arrested landlords, the land grabbers came with hoodlums and bulldozers to demolish many buildings in the said community. They also threatened to unleash harm on occupants when they come back.
The pictures of those buildings callously and senselessly demolished are hereby attached.
With humility, once again we want to call the attention of the general public, Oyo State Police Command, the Inspector General of Police, the government of Oyo state, and the federal government of Nigeria to please come to the aid of residents of Atere Isokan Estate Odo-Ona Elewe Ibadan.
O’C Legal Funke Fawole has threatened that nobody, not even the President or IG could save us from her hand. In our investigation, we have gathered that she is so powerful that she could ruin a community and nothing will happen.
Please, save our souls, we are dying.
We lost an old woman due to shock.
Help us, we are tired.
Faces of some of the land grabbers below.
