The Trade Union Congress (TUC), Student unions, civil society organizations, members of the Hausa community and others joined forces in the solidarity march which was held on Friday afternoon, December 22.

The gathering, which took place in front of the Government House in Port Harcourt, aimed to express gratitude to the governor for the N100,000 Christmas bonus awarded to state workers.

Amid a faceoff between the Governor and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, the demonstrators affirmed their support for Fubara, who has been facing political challenges.

The discord between Wike and Fubara led to a split among lawmakers in the House, with 27 defecting from the PDP to the ruling APC.

The tensions escalated to the point where the governor received an impeachment notice, witnessed the demolition of the Assembly complex, and experienced a series of resignations by pro-Wike commissioners in Fubara’s cabinet.
